It's not Gold

It's actually International Orange! I'm talking about the color of the Golden Gate Bridge in San Francisco. Not sure if that is a common knowledge or not. I knew it wasn't really gold, thought it was kinda rust colored or something close to orange. Anyways, this is the second of probably several posts about my first trip to San Francisco, California.

My husband has a high school friend that lives in the Bay Area. He texted him and arranged to meet. Tony drove us to the other side of the bridge to the top of the hill where one can view the Golden Gate Bridge at a higher elevation.

The following day, we bought tickets for a 2-day hop-on hop-off tour bus ride to the various tourist spots in San Francisco. Part of the stops are the two other viewing points of the bridge. One before crossing the bridge on the San Francisco side and the other across the bridge from the Marin County. I highly recommend crossing the bridge either by walking, biking, or as we did, riding an open-top bus. Awesome experience! Dress warmly though.

San Francisco Treat

For my "20th" birthday, I requested a trip to San Francisco California. I've always wanted to visit the City by the Bay. Because this was a special birthday, my husband obliged and on we went...for a week! I was so excited and the city did not disappoint. Between me and Butch, we took more than 2,000 pictures so I am still sorting through them. Will share in several posts.

On top of our list to do is to eat at Jollibee. Don't laugh. I know for some of you out there this is sooo ordinary. But living in the East Coast of the USA doesn't give us a whole lot of opportunity to taste this old time favorite burger and spaghetti. Jollibee just opened a  branch in New York City, but it is still a good five hour drive from where I live. Armed with just a map from one of the free guides at the hotel, Butch was determined to find the place. We walked several blocks from the end of cable car line at Market Street down to 4th Street. It was like finding the gold at the end of the rainbow...hahaha! Yum! Yum! Yum!

Montreal Weekend

My husband, Butch, and I spent Labor Day weekend in Montreal, Canada. We met up with our friends, Arnel & Josie, who brought along their friend, Thel, and her son, Matthew. Arnel suggested Montreal for it's old world architectures and coble stone streets.

First stop was the Notre Dame Basilica. Such a magnificent Church. Heard it is very beautiful inside, unfortunately we were not able to go inside because there was a long line and the others are not quite interested in going in anyways. I still regret that I did not insist in going inside.

Place Jacques-Cartier  is a public square in true European tradition where people gather to sit on patios, browse the wares of local artists and craftspeople and otherwise mingle [about.com]



The Montréal Botanical Garden, located just minutes from downtown Montréal, right near the Biodôme and Olympic Park, offers a world of colors and fragrances for visitors to enjoy. Ranked as one of the largest of its kind in the world, the Montréal Botanical Garden is a veritable living museum of plants from the four corners of the Earth.
